|I attended an International Entomology Conference in Brisbane (Aug 13-20) - my first visit to Australia. Travelling with my friend Piotr Naskrecki, after the conference we went to northern Queensland near Cairns to sample the tropical Australian fauna. We finished the trip with 9 days on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands (Aug 26-Sep 4) with the intention of photographing all that was interesting (mostly invertebrates) and seeing if I could find some carrion beetles that had last been recorded in the 1960s.
Most of the photos have captions and they are presented chronologically. Clicking on the first one will enlarge it and show the caption and some buttons you can use to page through all of them, if desired, enlarged. Although Piotr took far more photos than I did, most of those presented here are mine.
