Caption:
The invasive, aggressive and poisonous cane toad was everywhere - and probably has negatively affected many endemic populations of animals. My beetles apparently were no longer on Mt. Austen (last collected there in the 1960s) and this toad species may have played a part (along with feral cats and dogs). I suspect the native rodent fauna has been extirpated - and my beetles specialize on small vertebrates - so they would be gone too.
