IAB Human Resources Office
The IAB human resources office provides personnel support advice and services for faculty, staff, and students including facilitating hiring faculty, staff, and students; new employee orientations; employee manuals; benefits information; payroll and time-sheet coordination; employee relations; tuition waivers; tax forms; and supervisor resources.

Electronic Time Sheet (WTE):

At this time, all IAB employees are submitting their time sheets through UAOnline with the web time sheet entry program (WTE).
Unless otherwise noted, web time sheets have the following due dates:
- Employees: Submit time sheet by noon on the Monday after the pay period ends
- Approvers: Approve time sheets by 5:00 pm on the Tuesday after the pay period ends
If you are a time sheet approver and are unavailable to approve electronic time sheets, please be sure to set-up a proxy and let them know that they need to approve for you. Proxies do not receive automatically generated reminders.
Mandatory Training for all UAF Employees:

- Title IX Deadline for completion: 31 August 2014. UAF Chancellor Brian Rogers' Title IX memo .
All persons working in a laboratory are also required to complete (at a minimum) the Laboratory Safety Training, Introduction to Hazardous Waste Management, and the Chemical Hygiene Plan training. Specific job duties may require further training.

Research Assistantships for AY 2015-2016 and Summer 2016
If you plan to employ graduate students on a RA during AY 2015-2016 you will need to provide the following information to IAB HR no later than August 10, 2015 to ensure no delay in pay:
- Name of student and UAF student ID
- Degree level of student (holds bachelor's degree, holds master's degree, Ph.D. student who has passed comp exams)
- Dates of service (fall semester only, fall semester and winter break, spring semester only, whole academic year, etc)
- Fund and organization accounts to which salary is to be charged
- Fund and organization accounts to which tuition/health insurance is to be charged
Tuition and health insurance
- Tuition and health insurance have gone up for AY2015-2016
- 600 level credits for non-resident student, full academic year
- Calculations based on 18 credits per academic year at 9 credits per semester (students may take 10 credits per semester)
- Charge per credit for 600 level courses: $864.00
- $15,552.00 + health insurance $2,361.00 = $17,913.00
- 600 level credits for resident student, full academic year
- Calculations based on 18 credits per academic year at 9 credits per semester (students may take up to 10 credits per semester)
- Charge per credit for 600 level courses: $423.00
- $7,614.00 + health insurance $2, 361.00= $9,975.00

INTERNATIONAL J1 /F1 VISA HOLDERS:
Please begin your international hiring process with the IAB HR office.
Students in F-1 status are authorized to work on campus without additional immigration authorization. Employment is restricted to no more than 20 hours per week while classes are in session. There is no immigration restriction on number of hours worked during vacation periods.
Students in J-1 status (i.e., exchange students) must have a letter of employment authorization from one of the UAF Department of State Responsible Officers (International Student or Study Abroad Advisors).
Note: Employment authorization ends on the date of program completion.

All students who wish to work, including individuals on graduate assistantships, are required to obtain a Social Security Number (SSN).

Use for annual, personal and sick leave requests. Please note: annual leave may not be taken in advance of accrual per Chapter 04.06 Benefits and Leave of BOR Policy and Regulation R04.06.120.4.
- Paid Holidays Administrative offices are closed.
To evaluate an employee's performance, the supervisor must complete this form. As a first step, contact IAB HR for procedures. Six month evaluations for the probationary period should be completed for new employees. Otherwise, performance evaluations should be completed on an annual basis.
Increases: Performance increase requests can only be completed once an evaluation has been completed. An increase request is completed through a memo format, separate from the performance evaluation form. Details of the employee's satisfactory performance must be sited in the memo, to justify the 1-5% performance increase. Submit the request to the IAB HR office for review. IAB HR will obtain the necessary approvals and submit the request to UAF HR.
